Happy Birthday
.. to me! Yep today’s my birthday I should feel happy but I don’t. I haven’t worked on a site more than five minutes in the last week. My daughter bought me Starcraft 2 for my birthday when it came out two weeks ago and I have been playing it every day. I woke up this morning dreaming about the stupid game!
That used to happen when I was working hard on my sites, I would wake up with a list of things to get done that day. Now it seems like I can’t even do the simplest of things like make a blog post! Maybe I need a break but that’s certainly not going to help my bottom line! On one hand I know I need more sites to round out my amazon/info product killer project but frankly I don’t have the dough to buy more domains. So for this month I’m probably not going to get much done. If I get the last two Halloween sites as loaded as the first two and post/submit all the articles I had written for them as well as add a few more pages to my Christmas/IPK site, I’ll be happy!
July 2010 Earnings
I know it wasn’t good so let’s see ..
Adbrite: (188,459)(679) $33.68
G: (64,083)(228) $38.17
Amazon: (224) (4) $3.59
Just as I knew it would be, didn’t even break the one hundred dollar mark again. It even way worse than last months totals … and that with seven new sites up =(
Still Working
I know it’s been a week since I posted an update, where does the time go huh? Seems to drip by then sneek up on you all at once! So I have been working slowly this past week. I’ve got three out of four of my Halloween sites started and three out of three of my Christmas sites started (or even finished). On the Christmas sites I went with the preferred IPK method but I think when I start new ones this next week I use wordpress. If I continue adding a product page two or three times a week I’ll be happy.
Well that was weird ..
Basically, google strikes again! My fore-mentioned site is back to #15 and the dot net guy is back to #14. While frustrated I did change the title back to only the main keyword but I’m thinking now it wasn’t any of my changes that caused the flux in position in the first place. I know I should stop com-pulsing over this one website and work on the other dozen or so that are still in bare-bone conditions (online but may only have 1-2 articles and/or not even monetized yet). However …
I purchased Info Product Killer night before last and have been reading through all the material. I want to slap myself silly after reading the targeting and seo tactics (some new to me some not I just no longer use them since I started using wordpress again). If you haven’t looked at IPK then you better do it fast, it was only $37 for lifetime when I got in BUT it’s going to a monthly membership fee in a few short weeks.
In short I think IPK is a great product it has sound information and a two year track record, I wish I had found it sooner! Even so I’m there now so I’ll be working this program for now. Since I’ll be focusing on Christmas to start with and time is already growing short for the up coming holiday season I will leave my current projects as is and let them age a bit. Since my funds are nearly depleted for the month I’ll have to be really choosy with the products I choose to promote and use a more general domain name so I can promote several products from one site (sounds like niche blogging lol). I’m not forgetting about the Halloween sites I recently started, I’ll continue working on them as well but using the IPK tactics.
Oh I just wanted to share that one of my recent sites got it first click today. I checked and it’s finally showing up on google as site #77 its the dot org. Its a high paying keyword and that one click made $1.10 It makes me wanna kick myself, I should have been com-pulsing over the dot net version which has been sitting at #7 for the last couple weeks.
Failing miserably…
It’s very frustrating to see a decline of rank when I’ve been compulsively working to better a site. One of the domains I put up last month has beenĀ staying around #14-15 and today I found it’s dropped to #21 but the dot net (mines dot org) has gone from one spot above mine to #5!! It’s like where did I go wrong!!? Looking over my notes, I know I changed the theme to Prosense from the default TenTwenty theme. Surely that didn’t do it, I had also updated the All in One SEO Pack titles, description, and keywords and the post categories. I would have thought changing these to better keywords would have helped not hurt! So now I’m at a loss here, I can either change it back or just let it go and hope it comes back up?
This site doesn’t have many back links yet thats what I had been working on mostly this last week. It did go from 0 to 40 back links by the end of the week, not many but a start since I don’t want them to build up to quickly. I’m using articles submissions and social bookmarking sites to build back links for now.
RSS feeds, I came accross read-a-blog and tried to use the submission form to submit feeds, they denied my feed saying I didn’t have enough post. I kinda thought that was odd, I mean I have nearly 20 original articles on this site and aren’t most mfa sites only posting 2-3 articles?
Fansite Update
I’ve come to the conclusion there’s just no way to keep my fansites going (they haven’t been updated on over a week) I had hoped to be able to stay on top of the fan news but it just is too time consuming. I’ve decided I’m forwarding those domains to the wallpaper sites, which have all been moved to bluehost and updated now yay! When I have time I’m going to add cast bio/photos, affiliate items, and finish setting up cpaLead for episode viewing then I’ll only have to keep the episode list up to date.
